Text Box: Ernie’s Story Text Box: Ernie was diagnosed with Stage 4 Esophageal cancer in April 2009. Within a week, he had surgery to remove the tumor including large portions of his stomach and esophagus. After complications, a lengthy hospital stay and intense chemotherapy, his doctors have decided they don’t need to see him back for 6 months. In an effort to help ease the financial burden that this disease has placed on the family we are coordinating this benefit. A life-long resident of Minnesota, Ernie grew up on a farm in Brooten with 10 brothers and sisters. After graduating high school, he joined Air Force. He settled in Pierz, married his wife of 42 years, Kathi, and had 4 children. He and Kathi currently reside in Graceville. We all look forward to sharing this special day with you!
